Planning your visit
When are you open?
Every day, Monday to Sunday, from 8:00 to 18:00.
Where is the clinic?
Medivis is at 78 Nguyen Van Thu Street, Tan Dinh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. See the map and directions on our contact page.
How do I get a quote before I travel?
Message us on WhatsApp at +84 987 360 359 or fill in the form on this page. Send photos or an X-ray of your teeth and our dentists will reply with a personalised plan and quote, free of charge.
Do your dentists speak English?
Yes. Our dentists and patient coordinators speak English and look after international patients every day.
How long do I need to stay in Vietnam?
It depends on your treatment. Porcelain veneers and crowns need at least 3–4 days (about a week is ideal), while implants usually need two trips of about a week each. Your dentist will explain the timeline in your treatment plan before you book flights.
Can you help me plan my trip?
Yes. We help international patients plan appointment times and can advise on airport pickup and accommodation near the clinic.
General dentistry
How often should I have a check-up?
For most people, a check-up and professional cleaning every six months is recommended. Your dentist may suggest a different schedule based on your gum health and history.
Do you treat children?
Yes. We see children for check-ups, cleanings, fillings and advice, and take time to help them feel comfortable.
What should I do in a dental emergency?
Message us on WhatsApp at +84 987 360 359 with a photo and a short description. We will advise you and arrange the earliest possible appointment.
Is root canal treatment painful?
The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic, so most patients feel only pressure. Root canal treatment usually relieves the pain caused by the infection.
Can I have a check-up while visiting Hanoi?
Yes. Many international patients combine a check-up and cleaning with their trip. Message us your dates and we will book a time that suits you.
Teeth whitening
Does whitening damage enamel?
Professional whitening supervised by a dentist is considered safe for healthy teeth. We check your teeth first and protect your gums during treatment.
Will my crowns or veneers change colour?
No. Whitening only lightens natural teeth. If you have restorations on your front teeth, your dentist will discuss how to keep your smile an even shade.
How long do the results last?
Results depend on your habits. Limiting coffee, tea, red wine and smoking, and brushing well, helps your smile stay brighter for longer.
Is whitening sensitive?
Some people feel mild sensitivity for a day or two. Tell us if your teeth are usually sensitive so we can plan accordingly.
Dental crowns
What is the difference between a crown and a veneer?
A veneer is a thin shell bonded to the front of a tooth, mainly to improve its appearance. A crown covers the whole tooth, so it also restores strength — the better choice for teeth weakened by decay, large fillings, fractures or root canal treatment.
Which crown material is right for me?
Zirconia (such as Katana or Lava 3M) is very strong and suits back teeth; pressed ceramic (Emax) offers more translucency for front teeth. Your dentist recommends a material after examining your tooth, bite and smile goals.
Can a crown be placed on a dental implant?
Yes. A crown can sit on a natural tooth or on a dental implant that replaces a missing tooth’s root. We also make bridges, where crowns on neighbouring teeth support a replacement tooth.
Does getting a crown hurt?
The tooth is numbed with local anaesthetic before it is prepared, so most patients feel only pressure. Some sensitivity for a few days afterwards is normal and settles on its own.
How do I look after my crown?
Brush twice a day, clean between your teeth and keep regular check-ups, just as with natural teeth. Avoid biting very hard objects. Your written treatment plan sets out the warranty that applies to your crown.
Implants & All-on-4
How many trips do dental implants take?
A single implant usually takes two trips of about a week each, a few months apart, so the implant can heal before the crown is fitted. One trip may be possible with MegaGen or Straumann implants when the bone is good. Full-arch treatment (All-on-4 or All-on-6) takes two trips: about a week, then about 1–2 weeks a few months later. Your dentist confirms your timeline after reviewing your X-rays. More on our dental implants page.
Which implant brands do you use?
Dentium and MegaGen (Korea), Straumann (Switzerland), Nobel Biocare (Sweden–Switzerland) and Neodent (Brazil, part of the Straumann Group). Your written plan names the brand chosen for you and why. See dental implants.
Who places the implants?
Implant surgery is performed by Dr. Do Nhu Chuyen, who has more than 12 years in practice and has placed more than 10,000 implants, including full-arch All-on-4 and All-on-6 cases. Meet our doctors.
Will I need All-on-4 or All-on-6?
It depends on your bone, your bite and the shape of your jaw. The surgeon decides after reviewing your 3D CBCT scan, and your written plan explains which is recommended and why. Read more on our All-on-4 and All-on-6 page.
Will I have teeth between the two trips?
With full-arch treatment, yes. You fly home with a fixed temporary bridge screwed to the implants and eat a softer diet while they heal; the final bridge is fitted on your second trip. See All-on-4 and All-on-6.
Invisalign & braces
Can I have Invisalign if I don’t live in Vietnam?
Yes. Your first trip covers the examination, scan and your first aligners. Between visits you send progress photos and your dentist reviews them remotely; you usually come back in person about once a year. See Invisalign in Vietnam.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Most Invisalign treatment takes 12–36 months, depending on how much the teeth need to move and how consistently the aligners are worn. Your ClinCheck 3D plan shows your estimated timeline before you start. More on our Invisalign page.
Should I choose Invisalign or braces?
Fixed braces need regular in-person adjustments, so they suit people who live in Vietnam. If you are travelling from abroad, Invisalign with remote check-ins is usually easier to fit around your trips. Your dentist advises after examining your bite. See braces and Invisalign.
Who looks after orthodontic patients?
Medivis is a Platinum Invisalign Provider, and Dr. Ta Hong Nhung leads our orthodontic team. Meet our doctors.
Do I need retainers afterwards?
Yes. Teeth tend to move back over time, so retainers are fitted at the end of treatment and are usually worn at night, as your dentist directs. If you need a new retainer, it can be made in about 2 days. See night guards and retainers.
Veneers & crowns
How long do I need to stay for veneers or crowns?
One trip of at least 3–4 days, with two visits: preparation and impressions, then the fitting after the lab work. If you can stay about 7 days, there is time for finer adjustments. See porcelain veneers and crowns.
How much of my tooth is removed for a veneer?
Usually less than 0.5 mm of enamel from the front of the tooth, under local anaesthetic. Your dentist checks first whether veneers are the right option for your teeth and bite. More on our veneers page.
What do you mean by a “smile makeover”?
Some patients ask for a smile makeover. For us it means one combined treatment plan, done in the right order: it starts with a diagnosis of your teeth and gums, then sets out each step, for example cleaning, fillings or whitening before veneers or crowns, with the number of trips and the cost in writing before you book. See porcelain veneers.
Should I whiten my teeth before veneers or crowns?
If you would like your natural teeth lighter as well, whitening is done first, so the shade of your veneers or crowns can be matched to your new natural colour. See teeth whitening.
Costs, payment & insurance
How do I find out what my treatment will cost?
Send us your X-rays or clear photos. After a dentist has reviewed them, we send a written plan and quote, with the number of trips and days, before you book travel. The assessment is free. See plan your dental trip.
How can I pay?
Cash in Vietnamese dong or foreign currency, credit and debit cards (including cards issued abroad), bank transfer, and MoMo, ZaloPay or VNPay.
Can I pay in stages?
Staged payment options can be discussed at your consultation.
Will my insurance cover treatment?
It depends on your insurer and policy, so check with them before treatment where you can. We provide itemised invoices in English that you can submit with a claim. See dentist in Vietnam for expats.
What does the quote include?
Your quote lists exactly what is included, for example the clinical appointments, scans and materials, and for some treatments airport transfers. You can see how a sample quote is set out on our dental implants page.
Anaesthesia & sedation
Will I be numb during treatment?
Yes. Local anaesthetic is used for fillings, root canal treatment, tooth preparation for crowns and veneers, and implant surgery, so most patients feel only pressure. See general dentistry.
Is sedation available?
Yes, for implant and full-arch surgery, or if you are anxious and the procedure is long. Sedation is given with an anaesthetist supervising, alongside local anaesthetic. Read when you need sedation for implants.
What should I tell you before sedation or surgery?
Send a list of your medicines and health conditions with your X-rays. The dentist goes through your medical history and the options with you before the day of surgery. See All-on-4 and All-on-6.
I’m nervous about dental treatment. What can you do?
Tell us when you get in touch. Your dentist explains each step before starting and checks in with you as the treatment goes on. For longer surgical procedures, sedation can be discussed. Meet our doctors.
After you fly home
What if something needs attention after I get home?
Send photos or questions on WhatsApp; the team passes them to your dentist, who advises you on the next steps. Read aftercare for dental tourists.
Can my dentist at home do check-ups?
Yes. Regular check-ups and cleaning, including around implants, can be done by a dentist near you. We share your records with them. See aftercare once you are home.
What records do I take home?
Your scans and X-rays, and details of the implant brand and materials used, so any dentist can see what was done. See aftercare for dental tourists.
When can I fly after implant surgery?
Your trip is planned so the dentist checks you before you fly. After a sinus lift, the advice is different. Read flying after implants or a sinus lift.
Is there a warranty?
Your written treatment plan sets out the warranty that applies to your treatment. See plan your dental trip.
